The New Hampshire Supreme Court Society
Launch of the NH Supreme Court Society - May, 2008
The Supreme Court Society hosted its official "launch" at the NH Supreme Court in May of 2008. Rather than just have a traditional event where speeches are given, the Society hosted an art reception for the opening of the Judicial Notice exhibit.

"Judicial Notice: the World Through the Eyes of Chief Justice Peaslee" was an exhibition of court room drawings by an early 20th century justice of the Supreme Court. The Society's first exhibition afforded a historical glimpse at lawyers and litigants of the time.

Chief Justice Broderick and Society President Mary Susan Leahy spoke about the early successes of the Society and presented a vision for the future. Society trustees Michael Lewis of the Attorney General's Office, and Jay Surdukowski of Sulloway & Hollis spoke about the Peaslee exhibition and the catalog they wrote to accompany it.

But perhaps most memorable was a display of Associate Justice James E. Duggan's paintings and a poetry reading by Senior Associate Justice Linda Stewart Dalianis. These sitting justices took the historic step of sharing their private art in the spirit of exploring the humanity of our State's judges, which was one of the themes of the Judicial Notice exhibition.
